BY Dr. Kunti Makwana.

We, Dr. Fernando Noronha’s team had attended the national conference which was the 72nd INDIAN DENTAL CONFERENCE 2019 held in Indore Madhya Pradesh.

There were numerous lectures held in the conference by  good Indian and International speakers on various topics which covered almost entire scope of dentistry right from basics to advanced dental problems and complications, treatments. The topics gave solutions for everyday problems, the latest technologies and innovations in dental fields.

I enjoyed  many lectures for the upcoming dentists as well as on the future of dentistry.

The lectures were very useful and informative. We got to learn many new things on dentistry.

I had an amazing experience attending the conference . Our team was fun , enthusiatic and energetic.

Due to the encouragement received from Dr. Fernando Noronha, I was able to give a presentation in front of a big crowd of dentists and judges. Initially I was scared and nervous with all butterflies in my stomach till I went on the dais. But all’s well that ends well… ended my presentation with a loud applause from the audience and appreciation from the judges and was also awarded with a certificate. It was a moment that I will cherish throughout my life.

First time in my life I gave a dental presentation,  that too at a national level forum. It was an awesome experience.

At the inaugural function there was a lovely entertainment program which i enjoyed.

Apart from this we also got a chance to visit different beautiful historic places in Indore which had a mesmerizing view and also had experience of the delicious Indore food.

Overall we had a very nice time learnt many new things new experience in life and I’m glad to be a part of Dr. Noronha’s team.

Screening Camps with VHAG, 2018……

Our 3rd successive year of being associated with the Voluntary Health Association of Goa.

We kick-started our dental camps at Green Meadows School in Saligao,Goa. An International School, we examined students of classes 5 to 10, coming from varied ethnic backgrounds. Was a very interactive camp, children were well-aware of their oral hygiene and have sought dental treatment in the past. The school principal and teachers believe in overall-growth and development of children, which is a great sign of progress.

St. Joseph’s Convent High School and Fr. Agnel multi-purpose High School, Verna, where we screened more than 350 students from classes 1 to 10. We noted that varied dietary patterns play a major role in determining the caries factor, so does dental education and access to dental facilities.

Italy CDE (Continued Dental Education)

Italy CDE (Continued Dental Education)

Going to Italy was a first time for me. The excitement of the Italian architecture , the famous cathedrals (Dom) and the immense artistic inheritance of the place led me to hone in to attended a hands-on dental course in Bologna, Italy.

I was lucky to train with Rhein 83, an international company specialising in Precision attachments for Removable Dentures. I also did an advanced course in the application of  Sports Guards &  Aligners for correction of malaligned teeth.

After 5 days of training, I set to explore the cities of Venice (islands of Murano and Burano) and Florence. Travelled extensively by train and the famous vaporatti (ferry) services with ease, absorbing everything this country had to offer; from intricate handmade glass (millie fleuri) to artists capturing a moment on blank canvases in colours so vibrant and shapes so perfect.

So in awe of the architecture as I walked into cathedrals that were 100’s of years old and marvelled at the history and how well they’ve been protected and restored to their previous glory. The cobble- streets of Italy made my solo travels an adventure trip, made new friends and memories to cherish.

Stories of 2018…

1) Indian Dental Conference in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa was held in Feb 2018. The theme was “Accelerating Innovation, Fostering advances”. Dr. Fernando presented a scientific paper on “the restoration of teeth with poor prognosis and the use of custom cast posts for their management”.

Dr. Roshni Fernandes also spoke on ” The use and correct application of Antibiotics in Dentistry “. Both the presentations were well attended and received.

2) Dr. Noronha’s Dental Clinic welcomes  Dr. Kunti Makwana to join our team. An excellent clinician with working experience in a practice in Panjim, She brings with her a pleasant personality, commitment to serve and positive attitude to learning and growing in this work-space. In the past 6 months she has proved to be dedicated and has taken over various tasks independently …. a real value addition.

3) Indian dentist from the USofA, Dr. Ajit Patel, a senior consultant orthodontist visited us and shared his expertise and time with us. It was a great honour interacting and sharing some quality time with him. We look forward to more such enriching encounters.

Our Special Friends from Peace Heaven

Our Special Friends from Peace Heaven

” Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenges, and children with special needs inspire very, very special love.” -Sarah Palin.

Such was the love that inspired me when i looked into Deepa’s mouth. I thought it would be quite a challenge, doing her check up and treatment. She could hardly manage a smile and her teeth……what shocked me was her positive attitude towards the dental treatment and that made all the difference. Drilling away and doing her filling was possible only because of her good behaviour.

At our clinic we carried out a  camp in which we did fillings, scaling, fluoride applications, light cured restorations, root canal treatments, extractions and other necessary treatment for around 30+ children from Peace Heaven School for Special Children, Caranzalem.

I  realised while treating them that they are even more cooperative than other children.  It is surely due to the effort of their teachers who have a tough job but they still enjoy doing it.  I really appreciate their dedication. It was a most satisfying camp for me. I enjoyed so much and I am thankful to God and Dr. Noronha, that I got a chance to do something for them. Their smiles are true blessings.

Wishing a Happy Christmas for these little Angels.

32nd ANNIVERSARY

32nd ANNIVERSARY

Post by: Dr. Fernando Noronha

32  is a milestone in dentistry. It signifies the number of permanent teeth in your mouth and sometimes the number of painful visits to your friendly dentist 🙂

YEARS in your life can mean the happy, the wild ,  the boring drilling, the fun achieving, the tiring and the fulfilling…. In my case all together a satisfying period spent with so many who were a part of this journey.

A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear. Giving you one of them is the most rewarding experience which has kept us focused and committed to this field. Even more challenging is the varied cases we encounter and the innumerable teeth we save.

32 years has seen me growing from one chair to five operatories, a specialized children’s dentistry and a unique home dentistry for the non-ambulatory, sick or housebound patient.

You Made It All Happen…..

Along with my core team, I am eternally grateful to all of you who have been a support and have entrusted your pearls in our hands and continue to do so with utmost faith in our services and quality of care. We reiterate our commitment to society by providing the best of dental treatments with the latest materials and techniques to bring back the smiles to where they belong..

Kiddies Dental Camps

Kiddies Dental Camps

Our last camp with Voluntary Health Association of Goa for the year 2017

Dr. Fernando, Dr. Denise and Dr. Roshni screened 150 students of Govt. Primary and Middle School in Zuarinagar. Was quite an interactive camp wherein students, aged 6-14 years,  asked us about what needs to be done in case of a toothache, and how to make their teeth whiter.

We wish to carry out more camps, reaching out to the underprivileged, and most of all children.

School Dental Camps. Dr. Denise reflects:

School Dental Camps. Dr. Denise reflects:

After a brief hiatus, Dr. Fernando’s Dental Clinic, is back again with their community programmes.

The Voluntary Health Association of Goa organized a health camp at Our Lady of Mercy English High School, Vasco.  Dr Fernando Noronha’s clinic was invited to do the dental checkups. It was my first time going for a dental camp and I was really excited.  So we packed our dental kit and scampered off to Vasco for a 2 day camp on 24th & 25th of July 2017.

As soon as we began the screening, we realized the children had a lot of misconceptions and fears about dental treatment, and so we set about allaying their fears.

The first day we attended to students from the 8th to 10th std and on the next day we attended to the 5th to 7th std students,  which were around 600 students.  The children were given a talk and demonstration on the importance of oral hygiene and its maintenance.

We realized that many students had never visited a dentist for any treatment and so many were in need of urgent work. There was this one child who was suffering with dental problems but unfortunately he couldn’t undergo the treatment due to lack of financial means. I personally feel government support or sponsors are required to help such children undergo basic treatment. Overall the experience was satisfying and I look forward to such camps.
